Coronation Anthems Event 22nd June 2021
Nearly 60 members were not put off by the cool wind, and gathered on the green behind the Chapter House, for a Covid-19 compliant event. Voice parts were spaced to maintain social distancing. We sang all of Handel’s wonderful Coronation Anthems, conducted as usual by David Halls and expertly accompanied by John Challenger. John’s improvisation skills came in handy when the wind wrought havoc with his score. Our chairman stepped in promptly as turner and restrainer of pages, finding that reading music upside down is actually possible. Drinks and excellent nibbles (all in 60 separate bowls) were greatly enjoyed, thanks to the sterling efforts of Heather Bache and Ursula Bartlett.
